Leader In Me
Lighthouse Certified School
Lawrence Elementary School is proud to be a Leader in Me Lighthouse Certified School. The Leader in Me model is a whole-school improvement process based on the idea that everyone can be a leader. This evidence-based approach empowers students with the leadership and life-skills they need to thrive in the 21st century.
We strive to develop student leaders with active and creative minds, a sense of understanding and compassion for others, and the courage to act on their beliefs. We at Lawrence Elementary truly believe in our commitment to help our students achieve their greatest potential. Through our Leader in Me implementation, we have better defined our school’s mission and live it more fully. By creating a focus on leadership our school culture has improved and our students are not only learning the academic lessons they need, but also acquiring the social-emotional skills they need for their future.
Lawrence Elementary students and staff are proud of the growth made through the Leader in Me principles. Click here to see what we've accomplished so far.
Leaders In Action
Lawrence students have the opportunity to share their leadership skills all over campus. 5th grade students helped kindergarten students shop at our annual book fair. They started with a greeting and assisted in choosing a new book. They also helped at the registers and learned how to count change.
Our Students Demonstrate Leadership
"Rave to the two little boys (Hurley black back pack & Hurley army print backpack) who ride their bikes to school (Lawrence) in the morning. They are very courteous and respectful of others on the side walk. I always hear them talking respectfully to each other and others. They pay very good attention when crossing the road and always get off their bikes to do so."

"Just wanted to share how our kiddos have been applying the 7 Habits at home. A couple days ago the kids made a plan to build a clubhouse. They started with just 4 pieces of wood and my husband and I were skeptical about how that would actually happen. My oldest daughter said "Don't worry, I have a plan." Sure enough she applied her habit #2 "Begin With the End in Mind" and after 3 days of working together their 4 pieces of wood turned into an awesome clubhouse. I'm so happy our school uses the Leader in Me program and can't wait to see how they continue to apply these skills throughout the year"
