Running Club

This extracurricular opportunity encourages students to get out and move before their Friday school day starts. Students earn fun foot charms for every mile they complete, special charms each month, and awards for the most miles at the end of the school year!

This year's Running Club program will start Friday, September 20, 2024, and go through Friday, May 16, 2025. Labradors will have the opportunity to run every Friday from 8 am - 8:20 am, weather permitting. We start gathering on the blacktop at 7:50 am.

If you have any questions, please email our PTO Running Club Coordinator at lawrencerunningclub@gmail.com

Special Charm Days & Awards

Once a month, anyone who participates in Running Club on this day will receive a Special Charm of the month along with their earned feet! It is usually the last Friday of the month that school is in session, with a few exceptions. This year’s special charm dates are tentatively scheduled for 10/25, 11/15, 12/20, 1/31, 2/21, 3/28, and 4/25.

The Top Runners with the highest laps/miles will receive a special medal and recognition at the end-of-year school leadership assembly!

What to do each Friday

Students arrive at the blacktop at 7:50 am. Place your personal belongings along the wall and remove your QR code and Running Club necklace from your backpack and put both around your neck (provided your first day of attendance). Find your designated grade post and wait in that area. Promptly at 8am, the whistle will blow and Running Club will begin. Students can run or walk following the marked path. As they approach the start line they will scan their QR Code Card with the volunteer at their designated grade post and continue on. At 8:20 the whistle will blow and Running Club is over. Students will choose their charms for completed miles (4 laps) and put them on their necklace, then put their necklace and QR Code badge in a safe place in their backpack, grab their backpack and head to class. Students are responsible for bringing their QR Code necklace and Running Club bead necklace each week!! If you lose them and need them replaced it MUST be prior to Friday morning. Please note the replacement policy below

Parent Drop Off & Observation Opportunities

Please feel free to stay on the blacktop after dropping off your child and cheering for them from the sidelines. Our labradors love the encouragement.

Please note that if you have an older child that can escort themselves to class, it is not necessary to stay with them or walk them to class. Younger children from TK or K will still need their parents to escort them into line in the TK/Kinder yard or MPR.

Stay Updated with Notifications

It is very important to sign-up for Lawrence  Elementary text notifications through the school that include Running Club reminders and updates, such as rain cancellations. You are encouraged  to join and follow the Lawrence FB Community Page for notifications that include Running Club reminders and updates as well.  We will also send emails out to all registered participants if Running Club has to be canceled for any particular week.
